Inspiration:
2024 brings in the year of the dragon and I wanted to try my hand at sculpting a dragon, which I eventually decided to animate as well. The style inspiration came from the dragons that adorn the Forbidden City in Beijing. I first saw a picture of them as a teenager and I practiced my drawing skills by illustrating one of the dragons with colored pencil.

For the background, I drew upon a retro neon theme, as if the traditional elements of Chinese art were adorning a building in 60's Hong Kong.

 
The animation was created with Zbrush, Cinema4D, Substance Painter, and Redshift.
